About

Strathcona Lodge School House/School House

House Colours: sky blue and white
House Emblem: dogwood blossom with swan in centre
House Motto: Cherchons – “Let us seek”
House Hymn: Be Thou My Vision
The first girls at the School arrived in 1988 and lived in School House, located in the Main Building. With the growing number of girls, a larger House was needed, so Strathcona Lodge School House was founded in 2007. The name recognizes the first girls’ House – School House – and the close historical ties Shawnigan Lake School had with Strathcona Lodge School – a girls' school on the east shore of Shawnigan Lake from 1927 to 1977. Shawnigan Lake School has since adopted the alumni of Strathcona Lodge School as honorary Shawnigan alumni.

The motto of Strathcona Lodge School was adopted as the House motto, and the House emblem is an amalgamation of Strathcona's dogwood blossom and the School House swan. “Strath,” as it has come to be known, is located near the north shore of Lake Omar.
