As our founder C.W. Lonsdale said in his letter to our alumni (or Old Boys as they were then known), the experiences of our alumni are written in our shared history. They give credence to our mandate of an exceptional education for all, and their future pursuits in life - and engagement with Shawnigan - will be an essential part of our School’s identity for years to come.

NEW - Legacy Entrance Award
Shawnigan Lake School offers a select number of merit-based Entrance Awards to new boarding and day students each year.
All students: new and returning students (boarding and day) are eligible to apply for needs-based financial assistance through our Founder’s Aid Fund which awards over $3,000,000 annually.
The Legacy Student Award is available to mission-appropriate legacy students who have had a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle who is an alumnus/a of Shawnigan Lake School. An alumnus/a is defined as “Any person with a prior academic relationship with the School of at least one full school year, including graduates, non-graduates and honorary alumni.” We encourage you, our alumni, to share the details of this award with your children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews!As per the definition of legacy student above, we have 50 in the current academic year (10% of the student population). We have given over $500,000 to legacy students (approx $10,000 per student in this category) this current academic year through our entrance awards, financial aid application process and staff discount.
We acknowledge with respect the Coast Salish Peoples on whose traditional lands and waterways we live, learn and play. We are grateful for the opportunity to share in this beautiful region, and we aspire to healthy and respectful relationships with those who have lived on and cared for these lands for millennia.
