Halloweek!

Why limit Halloween to just one day? At Shawnigan, we celebrate Halloweek! This year, that meant four days of events leading up to the big day on Thursday, October 31.

It all started on Monday, when the Prefects showed up to lunch in costume to announce this year’s festivities. That evening, they also hosted a movie and snacks in the Friesen Centre. Tuesday’s highlight was a Halloween-themed Stag Café, with all the usual favourites as well as a pair of special additions: “webbed” fries (waffle fries) and a pumpkin spice milkshake.

On Wednesday, Copeman’s and Groves’ Houses opened their doors to staff kids for a fun night of trick-or-treating. On Thursday, students and staff dressed up, Houses competed to see who could carve the best pumpkin, and lunchtime featured a parade, with awards for the best costumes. Groves’ Safari won best group costume for their safari theme, with an honourable mention to Strathcona, who suited up as dalmatians (not cows). The best couple award went to two boys in lederhosen, and the scariest costume was Ella-Rae M. as Michael Myers from the Halloween movies. There was a full slate of evening activities, including a scary walk through the Main Building and the Rave in the Grave school dance.

Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make the Halloween events happen!
