2024 Grad Celebration!
Grade 12s, their families and guests, and a host of staff members made the trip up into the Coast Mountains for Grad celebrations at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler on May 16 and 17.
The events began on Thursday evening with Parents Night, where parents and staff members had the opportunity to mingle at the Portobello Restaurant. The restaurant provided an intimate space that encouraged lots of conversation and spurred interaction between the families.
On the day of the Grad Gala, families eagerly picked up corsages and boutonnieres, and had the chance to get their photos taken outside by School photographer Ms. Arden Gill. Students then proceeded to their class and House photos, followed by the traditional red carpet walk to the ballroom.
Everyone enjoyed a fabulous dinner, and the room buzzed with excitement and gratitude, as Ms. Mariel Solsberg and Mr. Paul Doig presided over the Gala as Masters of Ceremonies. The musical performances – which included a song by the Pink Ladies from the School musical, Grease, and a rendition of Dire Straits’ “Sultans of Swing” by the Duxbury Boys – were incredible, and a video speech from Head of School Mr. Larry Lamont provided an excellent message for the graduates. The parents of Co-Heads of School Grace S. and Jackson P. also gave speeches.
“Grad was an all-hands-on event that went incredibly smooth due to all the staff support and volunteers,” said Ms. Dani Robb, who headed up the Events team for Grad. “Everyone played a key role in welcoming families, sharing insights about their students and celebrating the graduating class.”
Thank you to everyone that joined us for the Grad weekend in Whistler, and to the Events team and all the other staff members who made the celebrations possible.
