Lonsdale's House

House Colours: forest green, gold and black
House Emblem: phoenix
House Motto: Ex Fumo Dare Lucem – “To give light from smoke”
House Hymn: "How Great Thou Art"
Lonsdale's House was established as the fifth House, named to honour the School's Founder, Christopher W. Lonsdale. It was officially established in September 1968, when the original Copeman’s House building was being renovated to house the Lonsdale’s boys on the top floor. However, two weeks before the beginning of the school year, it was lost to fire, so the Lonsdale's boys spent their first year in Fabco trailers sitting at the foot of the hill between the Chapel and the Bruce-Lockhart Center for Creativity (formerly known as the Hobbies Building). In September 1969, Lonsdale's boys moved into the middle of three brand new concrete buildings on the hill to the east of the main driveway. The mythological phoenix, which symbolises new life rising out of ashes, is a fitting emblem for Lonsdale’s House.

The newest Lonsdale’s House opened in March 2007 and is located slightly to the northeast of Lake Omar, on former Hartl Farm land.
