Shawnigan Lake Golf Classic 2024
Shawnigan Alumni Golf … it’s back, bigger, and better than ever! Mark your calendars for Friday, September 6 for a fun day on the links at the University Golf Club in Vancouver with fellow alumni, staff, and friends of Shawnigan Lake School. With your support, we hope to create a special annual event, “By Alumni for Alumni.” This year’s event will include two divisions: a competitive division, and a fun division for recreational golfers or those who are new to the sport. In addition to the golf, we hope you will consider joining us for dinner.
This event is being organized by a growing list of dedicated boosters in our alumni community.
Being involved and volunteering to help organize the Shawnigan Alumni Golf Tournament “has allowed me to get back involved with the School, reconnect with alumni, and share our passion for Shawnigan and golf,” said Jordan Dew ’02 (Ripley’s). Jordan’s dream Shawnigan golf foursome would include Brad Johnstone ’02 (Lonsdale’s), Rhod Samuel, and any of the Ripley’s Old Boys.
Sterling Hein ’01 (Duxbury) is excited to help, sharing, “The return of Shawnigan alumni golf to its roots as a tournament feels more like a competition than it has in recent years. With careers and life obligations, it’s rare for us to be able to compete in a sport or game like we used to at school.” Sterling is excited to see alumni battle it out on the golf course for the coveted Gold Jackets again. His dream Shawnigan foursome would include Lew Fraser, Jay Connolly and Scott Noble.
Brad Johnstone ’02 (Lonsdale’s) was one of the first alumni to volunteer, with the “hope of revamping my favourite alumni event that I looked forward to every year. With the relaunch of the golf tournament, I really look forward to bringing back some of the old traditions and creating some new ones. I feel we can make this the can’t-miss event every year.” Brad’s dream Shawnigan foursome would include Jordan Dew ’02 (Ripley’s), Jordan Lee ’02 (Lonsdale’s) (Brad’s old roommate), and Junior Ayotte ’02 (Lonsdale’s).
