Closing

Closing Day at Shawnigan
Under sunny skies and in front of a capacity crowd, the 2013-14 school year drew to a close on Saturday. The year-end formalities actually began the evening before, as the School community gathered in Chapel one final time for our Internal Awards Ceremony. After an evening of laughter and tears in the houses on Friday evening, the Class of 2014 and their families attended a Graduation Chapel Service on Saturday morning before retiring to the Headmaster's gardens for a luncheon that was absolutely first class.

The Closing Day Ceremonies began at 1:30pm in the Kaye Gardens, and featured memorable addresses from the Headmaster and Guest Speaker Curt Sigfstead '85, followed by the presentation of major awards and diplomas to the 118 young men and women who made up this year's graduating class. As the Headmaster officially declared the year over and scores of black and gold balloons were symbolically released into the air, hugs and thank yous could be seen across campus, and staff and students alike were given the opportunity to reflect on another amazing school year. The campus is quiet now, but we all know that it's only a matter of weeks before we're back at it again.

Congratulations to the Class of 2014 - and have a great summer, everyone!
